“J.A.O. Design International Architects and Planners Limited” was established in 1984 in New York and relocated our offices to Hong Kong in 1996. In 1998 a branch office was established in Beijing and the company headquarters was officially relocated to Beijing in 2001. The company was founded by former New York City Planning Commissioner James Jao (a leader in innovative, international celebrated architecture and planning services). As Wholly Owned Foreign Enterprise (WOFE), JAO Design International has made great strides in forging close partnerships with the government and business community in China.

There are five (5) categories of professional services offered by our company:

"J.A.O. Design International" also provides strong support to our clients in the areas of construction management, feasibility, finance, investment and consulting services. Our design teams consist of American, European and Chinese professionals who are able to create innovative and unique designs by mixing cultures and techniques. Our CEO James Jao has achieved a position of prominent social standing with the Chinese government at all levels, ensuring smooth and problem free project approvals across China.

The initial process of establishing a business in China can be quite difficult. However, as your business partner we can guide you in the right direction ensuring that you avoid the pitfalls. Over the years we have learned many lessons (which we will pass on to you) that will save you valuable time and money. We can help you negotiate contracts, acquire government approvals and most importantly collect your fees. As a foreign owned company operating in China we possess a Class A license, a testimony to the respect garnered by our company over the years.
