The design of the Baicheng Cultural Museum combines the understanding of local traditions, style and the peoples’ way of life. The project located in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region (the largest Chinese administrative division) will generate a language and identity unique to the area. The message portrayed is that of a simple people, most working the land, practical architecture and design with strong historical values while embracing modern concepts, yet full of colours and patterns. Emphasis is also placed on the use of local materials.
